A. [Action] for Goldenrod Department Store; Morning

[Ren has been shopping as he's feeling much better than he has for weeks. He has some stuff he's already bought and now he's getting the last things he wants. So you can meet Ren at the music department of the store, looking at the saxophones and other musical things.]

B. [Video/Action] for Route 34; afternoon

[Ren is not too happy. Morning went fine as he finally got to do some shopping, but now he's been dragged to train his Pokémon (by his own Pokémon) and it's no longer a nice day. Mostly because Ren doesn't particulary care for training as it's bothersome... but also because he obviously has issues with his Pokémon. It's the rocketchip that makes his starter really enthusiastic on getting stronger (for the team) and Ren is not very suited for training such a Pokémon as he's not the most outgoing person. It doesn't help that Zebstrikas are naturally violent.

The problems are why Ren's making a video feed today.]

What do you do when your Pokémon is crazy? [He pauses.] I'd keep it inside its ball, but it somehow always gets out... and that always happens when I try to make it go to my PC box, too.

[Really bothersome, really. Why did some Pokémon escape so well from their balls if they were meant to be for keeping them in control.]

This isn't what makes it crazy though. It seems obsessed with training and keeps thinking that it's in charge of things around here. [He looks away from the camera.] Even now it's almost training by itself...

[Ren will now move the camera so that it shows a Zebstrika, fighting a Snubbull in the grass. Well, for a second at least. Then the Zebstrika turns its attention to Ren... and makes a sound of disapproval.]

Did I already mention that it's also pretty violent?

[... Which might become clear as the zebra comes to Ren and knocks him harshly before Ren has time to really react. Its obviously not really happy about its trainers slacking off again.] Ugh... Fine, fine. We'll continue.

[And it's the end of the feed. Which one here was the Pokémon and which one was the trainer?]

C. [Action] for Team Rocket HQ; evening

[Some time later, there's one slightly injured Rocket in the base. Looks like this time the training didn't go pretty well, huh?]

[Oh, long time no see... well, technically the first time, as last time was an audio conversation.]

If I train him daily he behaves... it's when I don't when problems arise.

Yes, if I may... I have a special talent when it comes to animals and Pokemon... I can speak and understand them.

[He turns the gear around. The Zebstrika has stopped and looks at the gear a displeased look. Why are you interrupting training?]

[She clears her throat before speaking.]

Hello there, Zebstrika. It's very nice to meet you... You're a very strong and powerful Pokemon, aren't you? I can tell, you're very impressive.

[The Zebstrika does look rather proud at that, but he's not too impressed on the tries of flattery. So he'll just make a "Get to the point" kind of remark.]

Right, sorry...

Training is very important, but your partner needs rest. If you keep hurting him and bullying him, he's not going to want to train. You know that overworked muscles can wear our a lot faster. He's not asking you to stop training all together... He would just like a break sometimes. A smart Pokemon like you can understand.

[The Zebstrika sneers. "This guy rests more than trains. I need to push him to it or nothing happens".

Aww, don't go telling cute girls Ren's lazy. That's not fair.]

You need to try and help each other understand. You two have different values. He doesn't want to be so strong right away. But maybe you can try to help him understand why it means so much to you. He's not used to being a trainer yet. You're stuck with him, so you may as well try to get along...

[ It's nice to have a face to go with the voice now, at least. ] Do you not enjoy training?

You need to take a STRONGER hand with it. Hoofbeasts are proud, noble creatures. They will not submit to one who cannot hope to best it in combat, at the least.

[Says the one who got smacked down by his own starter on his first day in New Bark.]

[As always, Gorthan is at base. He has also seen Ren's video on the network, meaning he already knows that he's injured. Which is why he is already carrying a first-aid kit when he approaches Ren.]

You should learn when to return your Pokémon. You cannot expect these creatures to have as much self-control as you do.

Where are you hurt? Show me.

[[Kato is actually out of the lab, today, taking a walk through the base with his Lunatone. He's not really paying attention to anything in particular, but the sight of the obviously injured Grunt amuses him. He saw the feed from earlier, and it was an exercise in hilarity. Have a smirk.]]

Make sure your trainer uses a Super Potion on you, won't you?

[[Then he goes to walk off, like the horribly smug bastard he is. Have fun, Ren!]]

[The Zebstrika still isn't all too impressed. It's because he knows Ren knows why it's important and it's because of that he's a lazy idiot. So he'll just sneer again "We'll see" and then walk off. Clearly the conversation isn't all too interesting to him.]

... and it doesn't even know how to talk politely with ladies. [Comes a comment from Ren, sighing.]

Not as much as the Pokémon hopes, no. It's fine to a point, but then it just gets annoying and repetitive, especially since I can't move cities because of my job.

[Ren doesn't look too impressed.]

I'd like to see you try against a lightning zebra, who's almost as tall as you. [Though he has a point about the not hoping to be best.] Though I guess it would be better if I'd at least try to be "the best"...

[Ren will slightly laugh at the comment.]

I didn't react fast enough, that's all... but I will learn from my mistakes, thankfully. [And paid the price for doing mistakes, too, obviously.]

I'm just a little hurt on the rib... it will pass after some rest.

I'd be more worried about my trainer giving me a haircut like yours. Did it boost your happiness at all?

[Or whatever the haircut brothers did.]

Are you always this hard on yourself? I don't think there's any way you could have avoided that.

Let me have a look at it.

[He needs to understand whether there's any treatment he can administer, or if it's better to just leave the injury as it is and let it heal itself.]

[ Miki's only just recently arrived in Goldenrod City and while normally she would wander off towards the clothing department, she's really hoping to run into a friend at the department store. So where might idols like herself wander to?

At least it makes some sense to her, but she's not really interested in the instruments. So she'll be slumping down against one of the items he might be looking at lazily. ]

[ Oh no, she just slouched in front of someone lazily. Someone of the opposite gender even! ]

Why not? Most of the employers in Johto are pretty understanding if a trainer needs to travel.
