Pokémon really seem to like surprises. I came back to my room today to find some eggs. [A surprise he didn't really want to happen, but such is life.]

I've been thinking of leaving the base for a while to challenge the gyms in nearby cities. [Wait, what... Ren's actually going to travel and battle? That's unheard of.] Do you need to get some sort of a permission to do that or do I just inform someone I'm ending my current mission for a while?

[He doesn't really want to get into any trouble when he's already walking on thin ice, so he thought it would be good to ask.]

I've actually been thinking about challenging the gyms myself soon, so I've been mostly training for that. [Well, not really for the gym challenge, but for other more important things.] It seems I've started to enjoy it a little.

Really? Where will you be starting?

I'm thinking about Violet City. I have a pretty strong electric-type, so it should go rather well.

The beginning is always a good place to start. [ a small laugh ]

Yeah. If there's an order or the badges, why not follow it?

I had to backtrack for my first few badges- by then my team was too strong. Though, I've waited so long in between badges that I've now run into the same problem again.

I might be in the same position right now. I've waited far too long to start the challenge and my starter is quite high-leveled already.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily a bad thing, though.

I guess that depends entirely on why you want to challenge the gyms.

Yes. Rather than looking for a challenge, I'm mostly after the badges because they will help with traveling in general.

That's fair, I suppose, though I wish there was another way to get what we need for traveling.

I agree. A Pokémon should be able to Fly or Surf or its own without any badges. There's no logic in this system.

I guess it really isn't ours to ask why, but it feels like it forces people to fight when they'd rather not do so.

Yes. It's either walk all the way or fight. Yet walking also includes fighting, with all the wild Pokémon...
