[ At some point he either figured out where Ren lived or Ren told him, who knows. Either way, after a while Taichi decides that he just.. needs to talk to someone. He can't just keep trying to avoid dealing with his problems and internalizing it and feeling bad about himself. He has a friend here, and maybe they weren't super close yet, but he wanted to try to talk to Ren. At the very least, they can hang out and he can ask advice, if vaguely.

And so he purchases two hot cocoas and holds knocks on Ren's door with his knuckles. ]

Plus, they have formed a secret merger with ElphameCorp., who has agreed to give up millions of dollars in revenue by giving everyone who reads this e-mail, passes it on, looks at it, knows someone that looked at it, or is related to someone who is a friend of someone who looks at it A FREE, ALL-EXPENSES-PAID TRIP to ElphameLand or EndOfTheWorldPark! [Tournaments are a fun idea in theory, but compared to all of the shounen anime-ass otherworlders out here, Rei really doesn't stand a chance in most honest combat scenarios. He's been playing hooky, keeping to the audience.

[Ren didn't even really want to participate in the tournament. Actually, he would have wanted to stay out of Elphame for a while but he had a feeling if had gone back home the Queen might have summoned him back for... whatever reason. So he had stayed there to observe the tournament.
